Testimonials

"Craig Hamilton is the consummate presenter. Rarely do you find an emcee that possesses the perfect blend of traits to fully engage a crowd and direct them and proceedings confidently and smoothly. His genuine warmth and charm help him to connect with both audience and presenters, with his unique personal and professional style of delivery only further enhanced by a quick wit and sense of humour.

One of his key strengths is understanding exactly what's required of him from event organisers, panel/guest speakers and his audience - then working towards achieving these outcomes to help produce a successful end-of-event result.

It helps that Craig is an extremely generous, grounded and all-round nice bloke with endless anecdotes of his personal experience to share. It is not surprising he has become a popular presenter across the country impressing and engaging audiences ranging across corporate and community sectors.

I have worked with Craig at a number of presentations over the years and cannot recommend his services highly enough. Your event will be in extremely good hands."

"Craig Hamilton is known to many people. He has for many years been a high profile sports presenter on the ABC.

With the many and varied interests and activities Craig pursues in his life, he is one of the 800,000 Australians who each year suffers from the insidious illness, depression.

This book, A Better Life, which he has written with Will Swanton, not only acknowledges his own illness and how he manages it, but it tells the stories of others in an uplifting way.

It tells how some people have managed their illness, to live as normal and fulfilling a life as possible.

Reading A Better Life will give encouragement to many, and I hope, to men in particular.

Craig's journey has been a challenging one, but one he deals with in such a way that he is able to live a very busy and active life.

Because Craig deals with his illness openly and publicly, we asked him to become an Ambassador for beyondblue some 3 years ago.

Craig travels the country speaking at public meetings and to the media, helping to raise awareness of depression.

By speaking out, Craig is helping others, particularly in encouraging them to seek help.

Craig's assistance to beyondblue has been invaluable, and this book is another wonderful contribution, to those, who like him, suffer depression.

I thank Craig for his efforts for beyondblue and commend this book to you."

“Craig spoke as the after dinner speaker at our recent National Sales Conference. His honesty, humour and insights into living and coping with mental health had the room in complete attentive silence. His ability to share his own personal journey and explain the impact on his family, friends and colleagues enlightened the room to the devastating effect of mental illness. Craig's open approach was full of great stories drawn from his experiences in sport and broadcasting, and his work as an advocate in the area of mental health. His advice was practical, non-judgemental and led to a lively 'question and answer' session and overwhelmingly positive feedback from the entire team.”

“Craig Hamilton was the keynote speaker for a UGL-sponsored 'TrackSafe R U Ok day', aimed at raising awareness of mental illness and supporting suicide prevention. The audience for the event was made up of the UGL Broadmeadow operational team, as well as our Hunter Valley Maintenance Centre workforce partners and right from his opening address, through to his final summation of the event, Craig had them captivated. His open, 'blokey' style, helped him identify with and relate to those gathered, especially as his frank and honest commentary took them on the peaks and troughs of his own journey. The team hung on his every word and in my own time at UGL, I don?'t think I have ever seen them so quiet! I would happily recommend Craig to anyone hosting a similar event or corporate function. He is as an excellent keynote speaker and an all-round good guy.”

“When Craig starts telling his story, you don't want him to stop. It is honest, insightful and spoken with great passion and conviction.

Craig spoke to a room full of journalism and public relation academics, local media and staff working in mental health.

His presentation had something in it for everyone. He was able to reflect on his personal experience with mental illness, his role in the media and his experience writing his first and second book. Our national guests were talking about his insights long after that evening and reflecting on both their personal and professional roles.

It was a great reminder about how powerful the personal story can be in motivating people”

“Craig was a real gift to us yesterday. What a great and powerful speaker. He was wonderful, fantastic, educative, funny, I can't say enough. I
have had a huge response from people, lots of emails expressing their gratitude at hearing his story. He spoke from his heart and the audience was riveted”.

As part of a mental health awareness program at IP Australia, Craig gave a presentation on his experiences with Bi-Polar disorder, at a lunch time seminar in April 2005. Around 60 staff members attended and their reaction to his presentation was very positive.

Craig’s down to earth style, and honest explanation of his encounters with the disorder, and how it affected all aspects of his life, encouraged good interaction from his audience, and certainly got people talking - some even relating their own story.

Craig’s presentation has been motivational in encouraging staff to seek more information, and largely responsible for a big increase in demand for training on mental health first aid, at IP Australia. This in turn, is helping us to foster a supportive culture among our staff towards mental illness.

I would enthusiastically recommend Craig’s presentation, and also his book ‘Broken Open’, to others wanting to cultivate awareness and promote positive attitudes to mental health issues.

Cairns Stress Less Day Lunch 2006

Yes, the luncheon was wonderful, I purposely sat next to people other than the staff I work with, as it turned out I had connections with these people anyway, so we had plenty to talk about.
I bought Craig’s book on the day, certainly an inspirational speaker.
Thank you and see you next year.
Cheers

On Sunday 31 July 2005 ABC's Compass program screened "Broken Open", a documentary based on the experiences of Craig Hamilton, an ABC Radio broadcaster who has bipolar disorder. Leanne,

Hope this gets to you on time but if you have a chance to watch or tape Compass on Sunday night please do so. It is the story of Craig Hamilton (ABC journo, sportsman and author of 'Broken Open'), his mental breakdown and recovery - a spiritual journey.

I just heard Craig speak at a Conference I was presenting/mc'ing in Sydney - a much needed message for all. Courageous. And he (now) has his humour back. Worthwhile for your team to know about..excellent keynote speaker!

Magic.

Harvey Mackay - Best selling author of 'Swim With the Sharks' and top business speaker has this to say about Glenn Capelli... 'Awesome. Glenn Capelli is a twelve out of ten speaker. Fantastic!'

........................................................................................................................................................................................................

I have been privileged to hear Craig Hamilton discuss his personal, first-hand experience with bipolar disorder at a General Practioners Conference in Sydney in 2005. He shared with us his own personal tragedy with this disorder, prior to the 2000 Olympic Games.

I was impressed with the open, honest and enthusiastic approach to his presentation. I also admired his courage and knowledge of this medical disorder, culminating in the publication of his book.

Craig Hamilton has restored my faith in humanity. I wish him all the best for the future.

"Broken Open" is an important book. It is blunt, uncomplicated and direct. It pulls no punches. It describes the devastating effects of mental illness on a man and his family. Most importantly, it offers hope. It describes the personal and professional partnerships that need to be in place to promote recovery and resumption of a productive life. It takes real courage for a man like Craig to tell his story. We should all be grateful that he has taken the time and effort to share his experiences and insights with us."
